Eric Fjeldheim, Doctor of Physical Therapy, helped to create the Prairie Lakes Pain Science Center within Rehabilitation & Physical Therapy Services. In 2024, he became the Physical Therapy Assistant Program Supervisor at Lake Area Technical College. Eric still see's patients at PLHS on a PRN basis.

The science of pain is near and dear to Eric's heart as a Physical Therapist. Why does pain happen, why do some feel more pain than others, what factors cause or exacerbate chronic pain... all questions that helped Eric shape the type of physical therapy he would offer his patients and what he teaches his students. He started to weave together alternatives to pain management to be able to reduce a patient's pain medication - which, in many instances, leads to other health concerns.

In a recent Facebook post, Eric explains, "This work is a culmination of my passion for pain science, backed by the latest evidence and peer-reviewed research." It was important for Eric to create a book that was affordable and written for patients - without the confusing medical terminology. He wrote this book to help the average reader understand the underlying causes on chronic pain and natural remedies that can help. He shared, "My goal is to help as many people as possible while keeping this information accessible and affordable."

Eric is still passionate about working with patients directly. He will join the Rehab team this summer seeing patients regularly on a part-time basis.
