BASH (Building A Superior Healthcare System) 2021 will be held online this year. After careful consideration for the safety and well-being of the patients and families we serve, together with the current COVID-19 trends in South Dakota, a decision has been made to move the Prairie Lakes Healthcare Foundation’s, in-person BASH 2021 gala, to an online fundraiser.
An online auction will be available Thursday, September 23 at 8:00 am – Saturday, September 25 at 8:00 pm.
Proceeds from BASH will be used to enhance pulmonology services at Prairie Lakes Healthcare System. For example, Endobronchial Ultrasound Bronchoscopy (commonly called EBUS) enables early diagnosis and staging of lung and other cancers like lymphoma. Enhancements to this equipment, made possible by BASH proceeds, will improve pulmonology patient experience and outcomes. Dr. Svien Senne joined Prairie Lakes Pulmonology in 2019 and offers services that focus on the diagnosis and management of both chronic and acute diseases of the lungs, respiratory tract, and bronchial tubes. Dr. Senne's expertise and dedication have been vital during the COVID-19 pandemic.

COVID Numbers Increase, Hospital Fundraiser Goes Virtual
By Dr. Svien Senne, Prairie Lakes Pulmonologist and Critical Care Physician
Well, here we are 18 months into a pandemic and still dealing with up and down case numbers and a lot of uncertainty. I want to be done with all of this, but unfortunately, the virus is not done doing what it does. It is because of this uncertainty and because Prairie Lakes Healthcare System makes individual and community health a top priority that we have elected to change the format for our BASH 2021 fundraising event.
At Prairie Lakes, our mission is your health-- your individual health and the health of our community. At this time, unfortunately, the current 7-day average in the United States is at 153,246 cases daily-1 year ago it was 68,533 (Source: cdc.gov). In South Dakota, 1 year ago at our 7-day moving average of new cases was approximately 250, this year it is 450 (source: South Dakota Department of Health). Given the increasing case rates locally and nationally, we feel it is in the best interest of community members to transition the format of our hospital fundraiser, BASH.
BASH will be online this year! An online auction will be available Thursday, September 23 at 8:00 am – Saturday, September 25 at 8:00 pm. Please help show your support for our frontline healthcare workers by supporting this fundraising event. This year the cause is pulmonology, which is the medical specialty of the lungs and respiratory system. Learn more and access the online auction at www.prairielakes.com/bash
By supporting this cause, you’ll help Prairie Lakes continue to give back to this community. Additionally, please show support for frontline healthcare workers by receiving a vaccination, wearing a mask in appropriate settings, and using caution in this uncertain time. We at Prairie Lakes are always here for you at your worst moments - we appreciate your support during these difficult times.
