Safety First When It Comes To Gift Giving

With the holidays in full swing, it’s time to start checking off our gift list. Toys can be so fun to buy for children, but some can be dangerous.

According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, an estimated 265,000 emergency room visits were toy-related injuries. Before purchasing a toy or gift for a child follow these tips:

  1. Read all warnings and instructions.

  2. Is the toy appropriate for the child's age?

  3. Avoid toys with sharp points or dangerous edges.

  4. Buy toys that will withstand impact.

  5. Sports gifts should always be accompanied by protective gear.

  6. Don’t give toys with small parts, especially young children.

  7. Don’t purchase toys with strings or cords.
