Hospice at Prairie Lakes Healthcare System is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of a terminally ill patient while respecting the patient's and family's right to make decision that affects their life and death.
Help is available in coping with the physical pain and symptoms that are sometimes associated with the final stages of life. Physicians, nurses and social workers may provide medications and counseling to ease both physical and mental pain.
Prairie Lakes Hospice is approved and certified by Medicare. It offers a total support system that provides skilled nursing care and so much more. It's a special kind of care that Hospice families say makes a critical difference in their lives at a very critical time.
Hospice care begins when there is a prognosis of six months or less to live - as assessed by the patient's physician - and when the care the patient is to receive is dedicated to relieving pain and symptoms rather than aggressive treatment toward a cure.
Contributions for the Prairie Lakes Hospice program help fund the continuation of hospice training for staff and provide resources for the purchase of technology to assist in the delivery of Hospice care.
