The Bertec Vision Trainer and Force Plate has expanded the services for a variety of existing Rehabilitation & Therapy Services patients.
The new equipment was recently installed and already has become quite popular among several of our therapists as it provides a way to challenge our patients with a myriad of conditions with real-world, dual-task activities that help them regain their balance – and confidence in movement. For example, when working with a patient with a balance impairment, we can put them on an uneven surface and at the same time pair it with a visual or cognitive demand.
The Bertec Vision Screen combined with the Force Plate provides a variety of treatment modes to work with such as speed, reaction time, and balance. We can also modify the background from plain and simple to a complex or moving background.
The Bertec Vision Screen can be used with a variety of patient types:
- Patients with neglect post-stroke
- Patients with motion sensitivity
- Vertigo, visual motion
- Balance impairments
- Upper extremity dysfunction (ie: post-op shoulders) to promote reaching and simulating functional tasks
- Pediatric patients to encourage head turning
- Concussion
- Reaction training for return to sport or return to life activities
- Improve peripheral vision
Overall, this new technology provides great data from our patients so that we can track their progress objectively.
Patient feedback thus far has been great. Our patients enjoy the challenge that it presents and allows us to train them in a more functional and dynamic way compared to traditional exercises.
