Physical Therapy is a healthcare profession that seeks to improve the mobility, function, and quality of life through specialized techniques, modalities, exercises, and education in a variety of locations including in your own home.  A Home Health Physical Therapist works closely with you, your family and caregivers, and doctor. Goals can aim to reduce pain restore function, and regain strength following an injury, surgery, or illness.

How does physical therapy at home work?

After an evaluation, the physical therapist helps you by developing an individualized treatment plan based on your goals. This plan may include instruction in specific exercises, specialized treatment techniques, education in modification of movement, and adjusting your environment to improve function and safety Physical therapy in the home is a great service that can assist you with transitioning from a hospital stay, injury, or illness to return to independent life while in the comfort of your own home.

Most health insurances have specific rules on who can qualify for Home Health Physical Therapy and typically indicate the service is available for those people who are truly homebound; meaning those who need assistance and/or a walking device to be able to leave their home.   Please visit with your doctor and check with your insurance to determine if Home Health Physical Therapy is right for you. Prairie Lakes Rehabilitation Services can work with your doctor to start the process. Call 605-882-7700.
