Summer Safety: Ready for Nature
Summer Safety: Ready for Nature

Enjoying the great outdoors during these warmer months provides the perfect backdrop to create lasting summertime memories, however, are your as prepared as possible for what Mother Nature might throw your way?

In the upper mid-west flash flooding occurs quite frequently after a heavy rainfall. Always take caution when you are hiking in canyons or camping near streams and rivers.

Excessive heat causes many heat-related illnesses, such as heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and sunburn. Remember to drink plenty of water, reapply SPF 30+ sunscreen every two hours, and look for shade whenever possible.

Thunderstorms can close in quickly. Always check the weather conditions before heading outdoors, but if you do get stuck outside when you hear thunder or see lightening, look for cover in an enclosed shelter or hard-topped vehicle. If you're hiking, avoid isolated trees or ridge tops.

Stay safe this summer and continue enjoying this time to connect with friends and family!
