A major and effective effort in preventing the spread of respiratory disease is simply washing your hands.

Follow the instructions in the video to make sure you are practicing healthy hand washing.

SOAP AND WATER HANDWASHING

  1. Wet hands first with warm water.
  2. Apply detergent soap to hands and rub together vigorously for 15-25 seconds, covering all surfaces of the hands and fingers.
    • What if you do not have access to a clock to see if you have washed for 15-25 seconds?  Sing the Happy Birthday song to yourself two times.
  3. Rinse hands with warm water.
  4. Dry thoroughly with a disposable towel.
  5. Use towel to turn off faucet.
  6. After turning off faucet, do not use the towel to continue to dry hands.
  7. Dispose of towel in trash receptacle.

WATERLESS HAND WASHING

  1. Apply product to palm of one hand (one pump stroke).
  2. Rub hands together, covering all surfaces of hands and fingers until hands are dry.
  3. If an adequate volume is used, it should take 15-25 seconds for hands to dry.
    • What if you do not have access to a clock to see if you have washed for 15-25 seconds?  Sing the Happy Birthday song to yourself two times.
