Human Service Agency has partnered with MADD to ensure more people can get to their holiday festivities safely to share special moments and make cherished memories with their loved ones.
Every day there are 347,000 incidents of drunk driving. From Dec 1 through 31, that means there will be almost 11 million chances you or a loved one may encounter a drunk driver on the road.
MADD encourages everybody to take the pledge #ToGetThere safely and either designate a sober driver or celebrate sober this season.
Remember, if you drink (or do drugs) and then drive, you’ll see more than holiday lights. Take the necessary precautions to ensure you wake up to Santa’s gifts under the tree, and not in jail. The Watertown area provides numerous safe ride-sharing options here to serve you.
Alcohol does not need to be the key ingredient for celebrating this holiday season. Here are some fun and festive tips that allow you to have a ball, not a buzz, this holiday season.
- Confirm that all guests have a safe way home
- Consider guests who don’t drink alcohol
- Offer fun, non-alcoholic beverage options
- Provide food
- Create a themed “mocktail”
- Never serve alcohol to someone under 21
- Remember: only time sobers a person up
- Have Fun!
